I think you have a valid question but perhaps you are over analyzing things a bit. The thing i love about Kevin's movies are that they are all connected by these little references and the characters from one movie know characters from another, and yet all of the movies stand on their own. The KS movies so far have been individual movies that connect with other movies without being sequels (except J&SBSB, which was a kickass movie on its own but also was very much an inside joke for all Kevin Smith fans/ Askewed Viewers.
having said all that i think im going to sit down and watch Mallrats for the 100th time.
: I've read lots of POSTS on this board and others about people who didn't see Clerks first, or they first saw J&SBSB and now they are trying to see the other films. I was wondering, how many people have seen the Kevin Smith's movies(Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, J&SBSB) in order and in the theaters. I myself have and I actually saw Clerks at a Pre Screening. This question may seem petty but it does have some meaning. Not seeing them in order or seeing then on videotape first does change some of the appreciaition. This is what I mean. Seeing Clerks and then hearing Mallrats is coming out makes you really crave it. Chasing Amy was very difficult to find in theaters. That made it worth the wait. Dogma was even better because after Chasing Amy, I couldn't wait for Kevin to just drop movie after movie. If you saw J&SBSB and then went to the videostaore to rent the other four, it takes away the wait for you. That also takes away the appreciation. Some of you may understand what I'm saying. I'd like your thoughts on this subject.
