but i heard this year that NJ was introducing self service.

not in Oregon though. It's illegal to pump your own gas, and will be for a long time.

: Portland doesn't have self service either. I got yelled at by many a gas station when I moved here for pumping my own gas.

: I guess they set it up that way during the depression to create more jobs.

: : Not me, I'm from Connecticut.

: : But when I worked at a gas station (until very recently), you'd be surprised the number of times I heard that statement.

: : See in New Jersey, there is no such thing as "self service" gas stations. (is this true of any other states?)

: : So otherwise intelligent and capable people would be outside trying to pump their gas- and at a complete loss. The pump would start beeping like mad, they'd press the "help" button, and I'd go outside.

: : "I'm sorry, I'm from New Jersey" he/she would say.

: : This statement always made me snicker. I have family in NJ, so I knew they were trying to tell me they'd never pumped their own gas. If I wasn't aware of those bizarre Jersey ways... the statement would have been even more amusing.

: : I say ON TOPIC... Jersey related.

: : Just in Case... KEVIN RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
