Portland doesn't have self service either. I got yelled at by many a gas station when I moved here for pumping my own gas.
I guess they set it up that way during the depression to create more jobs.

: This statement always made me snicker. I have family in NJ, so I knew they were trying to tell me they'd never pumped their own gas. If I wasn't aware of those bizarre Jersey ways... the statement would have been even more amusing.
