"I'm sorry, I'm from New Jersey"

Not me, I'm from Connecticut.

But when I worked at a gas station (until very recently), you'd be surprised the number of times I heard that statement.

See in New Jersey, there is no such thing as "self service" gas stations. (is this true of any other states?)

So otherwise intelligent and capable people would be outside trying to pump their gas- and at a complete loss. The pump would start beeping like mad, they'd press the "help" button, and I'd go outside.

"I'm sorry, I'm from New Jersey" he/she would say.

This statement always made me snicker. I have family in NJ, so I knew they were trying to tell me they'd never pumped their own gas. If I wasn't aware of those bizarre Jersey ways... the statement would have been even more amusing.

I say ON TOPIC... Jersey related.
