After Marvel brought back the original Human Torch, they ran a maxi-series (Saga of the Human Torch? Saga of the Original Human Torch? one of the two) recapping his history and giving the references for when all the original stories were printed. On an eBay auction this summer, I saw somebody selling the original comic from the 1940s when the Torch killed Hitler. As for Hitler's magic spear in DC, I remember first reading about that in the Justice Society versus America mini-series.
