Yeah, I know all about Roger's ego and megalomania, but you know what? That doesn't change the fact that he WAS the driving force behind the band. And, while he didn't singularily write all of the band's songs in terms of music, from MEDDLE on he was the sole writer of the lyrics and the "concepts", as such, were all his. Gilmour was a great musical vehicle for Water's lyrical ideas and it's a shame that they couldn't get on, because "Pink Floyd" just isn't very memorable or repeatable without Roger Waters. I mean, the only post-Waters song that ever gets much airplay nowadays is "Learning to Fly". I haven't heard anything else from A MOMENTARY LAPSE and NOTHING from THE DIVISION BELL in years. Waters solo stuff doesn't exactly get much airplay either, but then again the whole point of him "leaving" Pink Floyd was that he didn't give a flying fuck anymore about the "commercial" aspects, he just wanted to do his things.

: As much as I loved Roger Waters, but here's the truth: he was a narcissistic megalomaniacal asshole who forced his will on his bandmates and didn't accept their ideas. Shit, it was hardly a band, period. You guys are making it sound like Waters did all the work while the others sat around, allowing him free reign, then "betrayed" him by foraging on without him when he "ended" the band after "The Final Cut." From what I understand, dude was a tyrant and beyond difficult to reason or work with.
: Look, poetic mastermind or not, Waters was a bitter, nasty, self-centered fuck who got what he deserved back in 1987. Lauding him as the genius and reducing the others as money-hungry session players living off "his" legacy (pardon me if I'm wrong, but Roger Waters did not write EVERY FUCKING MEMORABLE PINK FLOYD SONG IN EXISTENCE) is to be ignorant of the band's history.
