Who'd a thunk it, my Sociology class' mid-term essay is about relating Clerks to McDonaldization and Urbanization. My jaw dropped when the assignment came across my desk. And its at a catholic university too (too bad the teacher didn't choose Dogma.) McDonaldization is the emergence of McDonalds-like qualities in most businesses and people: efficiency, predictability, and taking quanity above quality. My paper so far is about how Dante is torn between a McDonaldized lifestyle and doing things his own way. And how Randal completely rejects the forces of McDonaldization I'm not sure if your familiar with these topics, but if you are, can I have a quote from you? It would be a surefire way to get me an "A." If not, thanks anyway for giving me an excuse to say the words "suck himself off" in a Catholic school classroom.
