I think lucas can't win. I mean, if he did a whole bunch of scenes on Boba Fett, people would scream - sellout! Just giving people what they want! But if he keeps a character as a minor character because that is their role - he gets crap. I mean sure, we all agree Jar Jar was annoying - but now it is cool to rip the guy apart. I don't think lucas is a bad guy - people just have insane expectations for his films. To call the space battle low class is nuts - in '77 no one had seen anything like. It's the same sort of thinking that pushes these guys to do these stupid digital special editions of et, etc. I just think the guy can't win. Sure he's mad a hell of a lot of money, but for chrissakes, he came up with the entire story line as a budding filmmaker in his late 20's! It's not like he made one film and it did well so he said "hey lets make more" without having the plan in place. He actually had this story and worked his whole life to tell it. It just so happens that people have responded well. I don't think they are perfect, but i think at their core they had an impact on me. So regardless of what i thought of episode I, i can't support ripping the guy down.
