Should I get a Dell Laptop or a new iMAC?

I had PC's because every single one I've had (just about a new one every year since 1990) has sucked. But, I haven't been around MACs since around 1989. I like the thought of iDVD, but i hear it's murder to network an apple and pc.

I also want something small. so no desktop PC's.
