The amount the movie has grossed before the DVD is released, movies that have made alot are usually cheaper, movies that didn't make alot, (i.e. Clerks, mallrats, chasing amy, dogma) are more expensive, Jay and silent bob stike back grossed alot, so the DVD will be less expensive, now before you flame me, there are exceptions in the rule, such as DVD's released by Warner Brothers (the ones in that stupid snap case) the bro's have a cheaper way of mass producing the discs under a standard format. So supply and Demand of the dics isnt always the issue
