OT - A certain type of person is bugging me today

This is in addition to my normal dislike of the general public.

I work in a political field, and there are a group of people whom I am having increasing contact with. We have adversarial positions on a particular issue which makes things so much more enjoyable (yes, that was sarcasm).

But what REALLY bothers me about these people is their constant "showing off" by telling me that they know inside information and they name drop incessantly.

Now I figured this type of person who only finds self-worth in letting others know how "important" they are, is common outside of my profession and that is why I brought it to the board. My question is: Should I confront them about their behavior and let them know how stupid they act?

Please advise

And I promise my next post off this topic will be on topic.
