: please pardon the misspelling..
only if you will pardon all mine. : )
:Would you rather we cut our own throats and went out of business?
absolutely not. the thing is... kevin is in a very bizarre position in that not only does he create the stuff, he sells it too. i can't think of any other person in his position (famous hollywood type) who DOES what he does. I would love to know if it's possible when negotiating contracts for distribution to have a clause that allows the Stash the same pricepoints afforded those who CAN sell 200,000 copies. It would be a small concession on the part of the distributor (since they're already selling product at that pricepoint), but the benefits to kevin and the Stash could be vast... you'd be able to price a little bit more competitively thereby increasing overall sales and profits. A niche player like the Stash wouldn't be perceived as a threat by any of the "big boys" so there shouldn't be any problem...
it's kinda like those clerks stickers... i spent quite a number of hours figuring out which scenes/poses i wanted to use, drawing them in illustrator, taking 'em to the shop that does all my company's decals and having 'em cut... cost me $2 per sticker (plus my time which i didn't keep track of so couldn't really book). I sent kevin 45 (9 of the 10 i made for each pose... i kept one of each). so i COMPLETELY understand the economy of scale...
you kids can get a MUCH better per-unit price than i could just because i'd never do the volume...(since i never intended to sell them... plus i overpaid 'cause i was in a hurry to get them)
same thing, right?
: I got news for you. Almost NOBODY complains. My beef with that guy
: is essentially that his post was unnecessary.
i agree with you there but just because you don't HEAR the "complaints" (i used quotes because they're not necessarily complaints so much as "oh well"s) doesn't mean they don't exist. there are a lot of people out there who don't buy from the stash because of simple economics... but you don't hear from them because it's not all that practical to complain about stuff like that.
: BTW if you knew how much we made off of each disc you would probably suggest we raise the prices.
you're probably right... i figure you prolly make about $3-5 on each DVD, but since it's kevin's stuff and kevin's store (and with his built-in consumer base), i'd like to see him get a price where he could be making about $12 per disc (and selling 10x as many). Then he could discount the price so he can make a very respectable $8 per disc (and sell 20x as many). It would be a VERY interesting thing to see if kevin COULD work a stash discount into his contracts with the studios.
: I love America but I don't love the exorbinant service charges
: American Express charges. You're starting to sound like the whiny
: Discover guy.
yeah... i was only teasing... i know why you don't take amex... post 9/11 it's fun to call people's pride into question so i can have a little more convenience. i like the exorbitant interest fees amex doesn't charge me. : ) i don't like the service charge my bank tries to tack on for a visa/mastercard debit card, however...
i apologize for the length of this one, it was intended as a short post...
thanks for the response (even if you did call me an uninformed ignorant person) : )
