HP- Liked your comments.
Here is my answer:
Basically, the stuff I make does take a long time to put together and I have spent a lot of time and money to learn the software and get the stuff. But the truth is I make them for me. It is a self expression and I have fun doing it.
Andee's stuff in my humble opinion has some funny parts but looks like it was made with a web cam. I thought some of his stuff was fun and others were too long. If he want to make a parody of Stormin Norman that is fine. No harm done, you can see that stuff on SNL or MADTv any time.
I would not say that I flipped out. It takes much more than that to flip me out. Any how immitation is the highest form of flatery.
Lynch got mad because I posted a link to my Ben Affleck video (which has done very well, by the way) on the VA site because he and all the people are friends of affleck. Honestly I thought that was a bit overboard and I thought that he was kidding around so i posted the link on the ANP site too. So then he got really upset.
My intentions on making that short film were harmless. But I think now me, Bri, and Andee can chill out.... no need to keep harping on a dead issue.
I am totally open to critics about my films. If people like them it is a good thing, if they don't well... what do you want me to do? There is an old saying that goes "You can not please all the people all the time." Plus it is not like I am charging people to see them either, fuck! What do you expect for free? (^-^)y
One thing that I know is when you go to any of the bars here in Roppongi, Japan that foreigners go to you will be subjected to lots and lots of Stormin Norman Short Films. So be prepared! Most of the bars play them here.
So opinions vary... that is a cool thing. Let it ride.
Stormin!
: I'm sorry, did I miss the official declaration of war?
: I find humour in the work of all of the three - granted, Lynch's is much more polished and professional - but why is there such animosity between Stormin' Norman and Lynch & Andee? I see no reason why one group would decide that their material is funnier than the other.
: The following critiques are simple observations and no hatredis implied or need be inferred...
: Stormin' Norman needs a little more planning in his films - they seem hastily put together, and sometimes, just silly (Ben Affleck?), while at other times they have a crazed glee to them.
: The characters in ANP are usually immobile - a possible reference to Hanna-Barbera cartoons, or maybe it's just easier to draw, but easy to lose interest in. Apart from that, the script is usually quite funny, and the characters are classic.
: Andee's shorts need... I dunno, they're good already. Better lighting?
: What's next though? Glen getting bashed for his strange dance-with-a-cat video he always links to?
: Thanks for reading...
