first of all, dont get me wrong, i'm a huge view askew fan and follower.
but i must admit, whoever got the contract here in australia to reproduce clerks and chasing amy onto region 4 dvd did a TERRIBLE job.
dogma and mallrats work fine, even setting the screen to widescreen, everything fits in nicely.
with clerks and chasing amy, only half of the shot transfers onto the screen (and before you all say it, i do know how to enhance the screen on both tv and dvd player to fit on the tv).
and the funny thing is, on the covers of the dvd's, they are stated as full screen movies.
at the start of clerks, the word miramax looks like this...IRAMA with only very small sections of the first and last letters showing.
and in a few early scenes of chasing amy, holden and banky are standing on either side of the screen, with only half of their heads in the shot.
are the R1 copies like this ? doubt it.
at the end of the day, i do put up with it, even when at times it looks ridiculous and unwatchable. i wonder if kevin smith and view askew know that their FINE, entertaining films are not being reproduced to an acceptable standard. maybe they dont give a rats ass, just thought i'd write it up in here anyways.
gonna import my movies from usa from now on.
cheers from down under
