Whenever a theatrical film is released on video or TV its usually cropped. Hence the "this film has been modified from its original version." If they were to show the whole neg. you'd see all kinds of boom mics and other goodies that are blocked out when the movie is framed in widescreen

: I thought that usually Super 35 films just showed what was on the whole negative when they were transfered to a full screen format, but I just finished watching the full screen transfer of JSBSB on the campus movie station (I own the DVD, but it was on TV so i watched it anyway) and some scenes seemed like the usual Super 35 transfer had taken place, while other scenes seemed like they were actually cropped from the 2.35:1 transfer.

: Did whoever transfered it to full screen actually take the time to see if a shot cropped from the 2.35:1 transfer worked better than just using what was on the whole negative, or am I just seeing things? The latter is definetly possible considering I am exteremly drunk right now.
