ya got me as far with regards to seeing the cannes cut (good for you), but just from what i saw on dvd i can still see the merits of cutting it. when you get down to the nitty gritty you've got to finish strong with your pacing to deliver the finishing blow. it is a great monologue, and it's a shame it couldn't come sooner in the movie, but after the jason lee bond exposition bit having another long monologue is really pushing it when you're setting up the end of a movie and i think the critics caught it correctly.
