Leto/Lee in "Panic Room?"

Somebody mentioned this earlier--in the context that Lee would have been good for Leto's part--but did anyone else notice that Leto seemed to almost be playing a very Lee style? My fellow cineaste friend Dylan, who's not nearly the Kev/Lee fan that I am, made the same observation; Leto's tortured overdramatic observations at times made me wonder if the guy'd been watching Mallrats right before he stepped on set. I mean, he does a capable job and all, but Lee definitely would have been better in the role...he certainly could have done what Leto did with a little subtlety. Any other thoughts?
