Nyuk nyuk nyuk. Ok, that was a little harsh... yes, there are a lot of films out that do seem centred on big fun explosions rather than a decent story, but that's not to say there aren't good flicks out there... you just have to dig a little deeper to find them. Hollywood's progressed - this is the era of the teen, where the social group that goes to the cinema the most are teenagers. And what do teenagers like? Flashy lights, toilet humour and boobies, of course! Well I know I do... so what with all the CGI, pee-pee jokes and mammaries, there just isn't enough room in most films for a plot. Maybe it'll get better, but if it doesn't... well... we'll always have Kevin.
: I just watched this the other day and got me thinking how much Hollywood has lost. If only they could have hung on to a few remnants of the golden yeras...things like plot, and rich dialogue. Sure it was a book first, but there are hundreds of old or 'classic' movies that came from beautifully written screeplays. Maybe I'm just waxing nostalgic, but I'd take a good story over multi-million dollar effects any day.
