And I'm glad I didn't considering all the stories I hear of people getting screwed over on requirements they didn't know about. I made sure to scour every piece of literature on major/graduation requirements rather than believing my counselors knew what they were doing.
My degree is technically in biology but I'm two only two classes short of a biochem degree and I consider myself a biochemist since "macro"biology is boring. Environmental issues and animal physiology are just completely uninteresting; I prefer to know exactly why/how things work on the molecular level.
