I thought it was philosophical existentialist horseshit. I don't dig the "fantasy versus reality" thing at all. It felt to me like the "a train leaves Chicago" word problems in 3rd grade. I mean, I sat there and felt as if I was "expected" to think, only for a payoff that isn't all that satisfying for me personally. I like films that stimulate thought, don't get me wrong, but just personally, it wanted me to think about things I care nothing about. But like I said, that's just me.

And Elfgirl...

Plus, I HATE Tom Cruise unless his character's name is "Maverick." But that's only a footnote.

But trust me, I completely understand what people see in it, so don't take it personally. It just didn't do for me what it did to a majority of the people I've talked with about it. I ranted about it once on this board, and someone (Isis, if memory serves me correctly) made me realize that it's all opinion, just like anything else. It's just that some people will ferociously defend Vanilla Sky if I dare oppose it.
