: Take a look at all the great young directors out there right now. Directors who have many more movies for us to appreciate in the future.

: Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy)
: Quentin Tarantino (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction)
: Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Malcom X)
: Christopher Nolan (Memento, Insomnia)
: Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous, Vanilla Sky)
: Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Road to Perdition)
: M. Night Shyamalan (Sixth Sense, Signs)
: Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Erin Brockovich)
: Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men)
: David Fincher (Seven, Fight Club)

I'm pretty sure that Mendes, Lee, and Fincher (and possibly Crowe) aren't really all that 'young' either. (And Nolan's older than you'd expect.) But what about Wes and/or Paul Thomas Anderson? They've both made at least one masterpiece by anybody's definition.

I'm not going to get into a debate over Nolan, we'll save that for another time.
