Most murders are done by idiots who get caught quickly.
If these people weren't smart they wouldn't be able to do the same shit over and over again.
As Lee says, they are usually people you would never suspect and so smart it's scary. From Jack the Ripper to modern day the serial killer has been well known to be of high intellect... unlike some of the posters here at the VA boards who spout off about stuff they apparently know dick about.
On another note I don't think of SotL as a horror movie. It was more psychological thriller.
I thought it was excellent.
