I don't get why everyone liked that movie so much either. I mean it's a totally absurd portrayal of serial killlers, romanticizing them and giving them all kinds of qualities they don't have in real life. You don't have to be a fucking genius to be a serial killer and I've never heard of one who was even close to being that smart. In real life they are sad pathetic mother fuckers who deserve only contempt or pity. Hannibal Lector might as well have been a fucking vampire or werewolf for all the realism in that movie.
Maybe that's the answer, for the most part there are no more real good monster movies anymore like there used to be so they take serial killers and turn them into these superhuman, super smart so they can be a scary as Frankenstein's Monster and the Mummy used to be.
