i think it started after shakespeare in love, i wanted to read more of his romance-y stuff just for myself. i enjoyed reading romeo and juliet in high school, but that was because, like you said, our teacher gave us all parts to read and it made the read exciting and put it into perspective for us...sometimes i just get curious...when shakespeare in love ended, he was writing his next play, and i just wanted to read it, kind of just to keep the film alive...never happened.
