Do many filmmakers really aim for a ninety-minute film? From the limited information I can gather from commentaries and the like, it almost always seems that scenes were deleted for time, or that they slowed the film down (that is to say, it flowed well on paper but not in the actual film).

So wouldn't it be fair to say that even the shorter features started out at at least 100 pages, maybe more?
