Of 70's era gangster/blaxploitation/kung-fu flicks? It wasn't realistic, certainly. Very stylized. Maybe "homage" is a better word.
I agree with you about Boondock Saints though, and moreover, people who really dig that movie tend to be scary.
: RESVERVOIR DOGS and PULP FICTION both have a lot of humor, too, but I'd never call them "parodies".
: BOONDOCK SAINTS seemed to be an attempt to cash-in on the Tarantino "hip" crime-movie wave in the mid-1990s. It was well-made and acted and had some nice MTV-ish camera moves, but it's certainly nothing particularily special or original.
