: : check my reply to toms post, but on an addiional note the movie portrayed the irish as on one hand psychotic (sean bean) and the other apologetic (richard harris,a fellow limerick man,R.I.P.) no middle ground,it's a long story...
: I read that post, but you're generalizing for other people.
: Just because some of the IRA goes after Harrison Ford & his family in a MOVIE, doesn't mean the rest of the movie-going public think all people of Irish descent are homicidal nutcases.
: This sort of sounds like the big problem gays & lesbians had w/Sharon Stone's character in "Basic Instinct". (SPOILERS) They thought her character - a murderess - was going to make them look bad as a group.
: I'm a bit disturbed that the only villains that are PC nowadays can only be an American white male who is atheist and between the ages of 25-45.
its just a movie. there has to be a good guy/bad guy for people to actually see it. i really dont think it was propaganda at all, just a way to tell the story, for entertainment purposes. and regarding basic instinct, what the hell was the big fuss? she had 1 or 2 lesbo scenes. it mattered nothing to the movie. isnt it scary that GLAD pick more on her character for being a lesbian, when she is also a cold blooded killer?
