: Affirmative Action says that minorities have been systematically denied access to proper education and better jobs in way that is so engrained that it transcends one generation's worth of damage control. When you can't get a good education, you can't get a good job... and when you can't get a good job, you can't put your kids into a good education and THEY can't get a good job... do you understand?
With minorities, that fact is that I know people who are smarter than me, and people who I'm smarter than. Some of each group are minorities, as for the public school I go to, there is no discrimination at all from the teachers. If a person works hard and wants to study then they can achieve what they want to. It is when you start to admit sub-standard students into college over superior students because of a mere skin color, that I feel is a bad idea.
: The IDEA that minorities were dumber came from the fact that they weren't allowed proper educations for generation... which then spilled over subconsciously into the culture of education to believing that minorities were INATELY uneducatable. It's a vicious cycle that requires drastic action to break.
I believe we are now in an age that should not differentiate between races. Also studies have shown that retention rates for college students who have been given affirmative action admitence is far lower than the average. Quotas are not the way to go, quotas are pure discrimination.
: These things can't just be fixed by saying "well it's over now" because they're things that have... cyclicly burrowed themselves into the culture and into the American collective subconsciousness. They have to be radically and deliberately fought.
I don't know but if I was a business owner, I care about one thing and one thing only, the bottom line, I'm going to hire the best worker regardless of creed or color, because all I care about is showing a profit for my self.
: We seem to not like solutions in this country that don't involve bombing children or lowering taxes for the very rich.
I'm personally in favor of a flat tax, after all that is completly fair, why punish people for making more money? Take A-Rod for instance, the highest contract in MLB, and I feel he deserves every penny for it. After all how people can do what he can do. Same thing for Doctors, Lawyers, and executives.
: We're going to need to start liking real solutions.
: Because we've nearly bombed and tax-cut our way to the end of the Roman Empire and the end of the world, as it is. We're going to have to get more complex if we wanna keep this planet rolling... with people on it, anyway.
I agree that the war is not necessary to the survival of our country. But it is a proven fact that a war will help jump start our economy. Is it worth the lives of a few dozen soldiers to get our economy back on line? I don't know, is it worth a couple hundred, or even thousand? I don't know, and I'm glad I don't have to make that decision.
