For those without access to the DVD, Kevin pointed out to the "lesbian" that the point of "all a lesbian needs is good, deep dicking" (something she said a few times, actually, like she couldn't stop) but this was said by the character Bankie, the guy who is always wrong and thus difusing the whole arguement.

I seen to recall that often an audience will misunderstand a films message because something just plain wrong is said or done in the movie and the audience misses the point that the guy who says it is *always wrong* and thus wrong about that, too. This sounds like a practical device in filmmaking/storytelling but since it can and does get misread, Chasing Amy being the only example that comes to mind at the moment, is this a worthwhile technique to use?

Or, most likely in Chasing Amy's case, that little point got missed because the lesbian did fall for the guy. A little distraction and confusion.
