I think "Red Dragon" was superbly made but like the characters, direction, etc. better in "Manhunter".
I think the Lecter & Tooth Fairy in "Manhunter" were better than what you saw in "Red Dragon". But then there's Mann's Miami Vice-ish style that is dated.
I think if you took the actors & style (the story style, not the fashion, music, etc.) from "Manhunter" & put them in "Red Dragon", you'd have one kick ass movie.
I think I may prefer "Manhunter" a little bit better 'cause of "Inna-gadda-da-vida".
