Kevin - First the facts: I'm a 32-year-old Chicago-based writer who has written six screenplays and have gotten a local agent. Two of the scripts have placed in the top ten of two separate contests, and another one has helped me to get a dialogue going with a manager in LA. I've had a couple of producers and directors who have read some scripts, but that's as far as it's gone. I have kind of "dark" sensibilities: I've got a comedy about the second coming, another with a man being turned into a sperm at the end (and this is my version of a family film), two horror scripts, and one thriller where a main character is brutally killed in the end...but I know that there is an audience for darker material or material with a more twisted sense of humor. If you were starting out today...and hey, let's say you were me...where would you turn to either find someone with similar sensibilities who could help or find someone who could help you finance it?
