I actually just copied and pasted this post without re-reading it. Yesterday I was a bit depressed, but what a difference a day makes. I met a director who wants to read a couple of my scripts and who has contacts who want to produce a film that he would direct and I've had two separate managers contact me about two separate scripts. So I guess my question has changed: When you were starting out, how did you go about figuring out the budget for "Clerks?" The director asked me if I had a budget worked up for one of my scripts and I've got absolutely nothing, with no idea how to create one...
Oh, and I don't take any offense at the other poster...I looked again at how I described my scripts and I would think they were crap, too. If I were describing them today, I'd say I have a comedy in the vein of "The Life of Brian", another that is kind of a family comedy (with a guy who is wished back to before he was born in the end), a futuristic sci-fi horror script that is a cross between the Matrix and The Crow, a noirish thriller with a brutal ending a la Seven, and another drama/horror script about two people who are telepathically connected. Hopefully these descriptions sound better, but if not...I can always make a videogame flick.
