Yes, yes, and yes!! In a display of showmanship and public delivery
that puts some televised standup comedians to shame, let it be
known that Kevin followed a completely engrossing night by
succeeding in pulling off the Ultimate Show Cap. Mike's
aforementioned excerpt left no one in the auditorium (by the way, a
shout out to the right-side, third-row peeps) unable to restrain a full-
force smile. And, as further testament to Kevin's sheer knack for this
thing, the bit never faltered in feel or felt divorced from his usual flavor.
Bill Cosby himself never really started doing material based on his
kids until about the half-way mark...maybe (hopefully) we could see a
new trend for content here, too. (In this same monologue, he
admitted a self-surprised realization that, when muted, J&SBSB
"actually makes a really great kid's movie.")
Incidentally, Mike's alluded to something else...the riffing on various
movie-culture elements throughout the evening was hysterical.
Besides the "S.H.A." worship he expressed, we learned that he
assumes Vince Vaughn addresses every object and person with the
preposition, "money." And a lustful desire for the star of "Coyote Ugly"
was revealed, if not only for the sake of her first name. And...well, ya
had to be there. This climate-bizzarre but generally well-tempered
state thanks him.
....Plus, even save Kevin's annecdotes, I still have yet to fully shake
away the reminiscent mental stamp left by whichever siren was
seated twenty short feet from me. Unfortunately, the metro area is
large, and odds of future casual bumping-into are weak. But at least
Smith kicked ass.
