: -That sucks. Do you remember which slope it was? Appalachian, Sugar, Beech, Hawksnest??? I would say sugar is normally the best bet, but if you are already driving that far, go on up to Snowshow WV.
It was Hawksnest. I was MLK weekend in 2001 and Sugar and Beech Mountain were packed.
: -Personally, I don't really feel one way or the other, but did anybody give you shit for being from florida? They (mainly my friends who were students) don't seem to really care for people from florida up there. Well, they don't care for most of the florida people who travel there, ie, retired folk. They always seem to be in a caddilac, in the wrong lane, going the wrong speed, whilst taking up all the parking and running up real estate prices. Friends of mine call them either floridiots, or Half-backs, which refers to them being "half-way" back to New York. Just curious if you ran into any of this...
No, I didn't run into any Floridian resentment. I mainly ran into the oh-another-dumb-skiier-injured-themselves-and-we-have-to-treat-him looks from the hospital staff. I'm a bit younger than the Caddilac crowd.
