MP3 Player Advice Needed.

I'm thinking of getting a nice MP3 player for my wife on her birthday. However there are swarms of ones out there and I really don't know where to start.

Does anyone have a type they'd recommend? Brand or line? I'm looking in the $100-150 range and need something 128MB or more. I know iPod's are supposed to be the shiznit, but I don't know if I can go that high (however I'm still undecided).

If anyone's got any suggestions I'd like to hear them.
