Affleck Slams Exploitative Miramax
Hollywood hunk Ben Affleck has lashed out at studio giant Miramax Films, accusing them of "exploiting" his friendship with Matt Damon to promote their movie Good Will Hunting. The fiance of Jennifer Lopez - who co-wrote and co-starred with Damon in the 1997 Oscar-winning picture - also blames the way movie bosses advertised it for making his pal "more sought-after" than him. He says, "Matt and I were a very successful marketing hook for Miramax, and they used it. It felt a little bit like we were whoring our friendship, like a guy out there with an organ grinder and a monkey." Speaking about the aftermath of the film's release, he adds, "Matt was more sought-after. When Good Will Hunting broke, it was all about Matt. I've always felt like I've been in a perpetual audition."
