: Are you saying that no one told him that, or that he should have checked into it more?

You don't just... call a general information line or, well, I have no idea what this guy's "contact" at Miramax was but... you get it in writing from someone with the power to put it in writing.

I mean, this is the entertainment industry we're talking about for God's sake, I took exactly one First Amendment Law course in college and I know that the whole set-up has no legal backing... Lord only knows what someone with a law degree could say.

How naive do you have to be to not... run it past your dad's lawyer? A friend in pre-law? Something?

Christ, go to Law Dogs on a Wednesday and ask the legal advice guy.

And then to simultaneously whine about how put upon you are for being asked to not break the law anymore while also asking for permission after the fact... when you just got a cease-and-desist letter?

Hint: if you got a cease-and-desist letter, you're probably not going to get permission later. You're probably going to get ignored at best... or get a restraining order, down the road.

Mike
