And what have we learned?
Well, Mussina is the best of the three because of longevity, but if you scale the numbers to fit his total games, then Vazquez has more K's and more BB's total, but what it doesn't take into account is that Vazquez has gotten better and better every year thus far.
Also, if you scale all the numbers, Vazquez comes off as better than Pettitte, especially when you take into account that his ERA has dropped almost every year he has pitched.
Of course, he can't keep this trend going (it's impossible), but he can get a whole hell of a lot better, and give Mussina a run for his money.
If you look at just last year's stats ...
MUSSINA

Vazquez had an all around better year ... and he's younger.
And so many K's.
And I don't know about "just beginning" for Mussina and Pettitte. Mussina's 35 and Pettitte's 31 while Vazquez is 27 (give or take 5 years because he is foreign-born).
The best of the three will be Vazquez. They stole him away like they steal away everyone.

Ooooh. I hate them. But that might be just misplaced jealousy because I'm from Chicago and we have an owner who wouldn't buy an extra bat if it wasn't necessary.
