I think you are correct.
Actually after writing it I began thinking that because light actually travels at the speed of light it could not be an asymptote.
Perhaps then anything higher than the speed of light is an asymptote?
With 3 x 10^8 m/s + x (the smallest number that would increase the speed)?
I don't know its been a while since I've thought about this stuff (though I love it)
