: how much like an ass-kicking black-leather-bustier-wearing martial artist can a 4 year old be?
How many 4 year olds do you know will jump off a table/cliff/chair without checking to see if someone will catch her? How many 4 year olds do you know love flying in a two-seater airplane with a very nervous uncle? How many 4 year olds do you know have read (ok, so listened to) Black Beauty, and the first two books in the Boxcar Children series? These have no pictures - big step. Now she insists on riding a horse. Not a teeny piddly pony. A HORSE! Oh, and she's asking for trumpet lessons for two months now, I might have to cave on that, too. Where the hell am I going to find a trumpet player who will try to teach a 4 year old? She's already taking a ballet/tap/jazz/gymnastic class and I don't want to get her into too much, my schecule won't allow me to be the SUV soccer mom. She's incredibly smart, active, and to everyone outside the family, pleasant. To us she's a little demanding and whiny right now.
: hey...I am just a little bitter about names. my mom couldn't think of a middle name for me so she chose 'martin' after the couple in the next bed over. Mr and Mrs Martin....just some mystery couple whose name I bear.
That sucks. Worse than some of the names in my children's day care! At least you can spell Martin! (My husband's middle name is Franklin, after his grandfather. that sucks almost as bad.)
