: : So, the 'Dawn of the Dead' re-make is the number one film in the US right now? That's all well and good, I suppose, but if there's any justice in the world 'Shaun of the Dead' will kick it in the teeth when (or if) it gets released. Great performances, fantastic direction, genuinely scary/horrific moments and all-round hilarity make it my favourite film I've seen for a while. You might not appreciate it as much if you're not familiar with the British sit-com 'Spaced', but it's still very funny as well as being a pretty great tribute to the whole zombie movie genre. So, if you ever get the chance to catch it, take it. SO SEZ TOM.
: i usually don't like movies that try to be serious one minute, funny the next. i saw the trailer and it looked like a really silly movie. how do you mean some of the stuff was genuinely scary? did they attempt at all to make it "serious"
-- Nah, it's really well-done. It's much more in the vein of an 'Evil Dead' flick than 'Scary Movie' or something, they're not just making fun of the genre, they're using it in a way to tell a funny story where they show both the horrific/graphic angle and the comedy angle. It's more about funny characters in a horror situation than a piss-take of it all.
: thanks for the review. looking foward to this one.
