: Or are you just wanting the last word on the matter?

No, this is just better than doing the work I'm supposed to be doing. I like discussing things. I'm a great fan of mature debate.

: He isn't grabing power. The position of the president does not have any more "power" today than he did 4 years ago.

Now you're playing semantics. Obviously what I'm talking about is the special powers (even if they are temporary) mentioned earlier. The president? Perhaps not. The government? Certainly, even if only temporary.

: : Sorry, I don't see the drama. Bush has surprised me with how far he has pushed things. He ran on a platform of 'compassionate conservatism', and yet has been the most conservative president in a long time.

: To compare his platform pre a terrorist attack to his posistion afterwards isnt really fair. Thats like saying the new spanish government would have been elected even if that train wasnt destroyed.

I'll give you that point when it comes to what happened in Afghanistan, and with the measures the government is taking locally to combat terrorism. I might even give it to you when it comes to the war in Iraq, although I'm one of the people that think he used 9/11 to mislead this country to war. But, it goes a lot further than that. Taxes, Abortion, Environmental issues and Gay marriage are all issues that have nothing to do with 9/11, but which Liberals are shocked that he would go so far with. That's why this election is so polarized.
