Or are you just wanting the last word on the matter?

: : Well thats what you are making it sound like when using the term sieze. You are making him out to be senator palpatine.

: In a lot of ways, that's not a bad comparison. In any case, I can't think of a phrase that describes it better. Grab this much control? Clunky. You tell me, then.

He isn't grabing power. The position of the president does not have any more "power" today than he did 4 years ago.

: Ah... now I understand the confusion. The democratic party is not the 'left wing'. 'Liberal' is a dirty word in that party. I consider the Democrats slightly left of center, and even that only if you define 'center' as the median of American opinion.

Fine tomato, tomato.. wait that doesnt work too well in a text forum.

: : He sucks enough, there is no reason to exagerate things.

: Sorry, I don't see the drama. Bush has surprised me with how far he has pushed things. He ran on a platform of 'compassionate conservatism', and yet has been the most conservative president in a long time.

To compare his platform pre a terrorist attack to his posistion afterwards isnt really fair. Thats like saying the new spanish government would have been elected even if that train wasnt destroyed.
