I wanted to start a new thread because the previous one was getting too big, and too hard to Wade through.

What bothers me about a lot of the posts I'm reading on ideas for the new clerks movie is "Bigger supporting cast" or Replace so-and-so with someone else because he's more popular. So what?

Clerks was a damn fine movie that can stand on its own despite having a cast of unknowns. In fact, part of the reason I liked it so much is because it was such an accessable movie. The audience really got the sense that these were real people, with real sucky jobs, who dealt with sucky people on a day-to-day basis. I liked Clerks because I could relate to these guys.

But, since it's probably going to be a big movie, with big stars, you gotta find a way to work that stuff in. I've got some ideas, but I'm not going to share them unsolicited. :P

But the fact remains that if Clerks 2 doesn't FEEL like a Clerks movie, I don't think it will have the same impact on an audience. The characters and locations should be familiar without being cliche, and if you got anyone else to play Dante and Randall, I think you'll lose that connection with the audience. Just my two cents.
