Well fellow Askewers you've probably heard by now that Sarah Jessica Parker, star of Sex and the City and bedmate of Matthew Broderick will host and the nominations should be coming at the end of April or early May. As I have said many times on this board, I think Dogma should get a slew of nominations. You can check out my previous posts on this board about what nominations I and others think Dogma should get on Board 123 called MTV Movie Awards Post and Board 144 Darn the Oscars! Full Speed Ahead to the MTV Movie Awards! I go into more detail in these posts, and I am sort of in a hurry, so I will just put a list of nominations I think Dogma should get, please feel free to add your own to the list. Hopefully when its time to vote for the winners, we can unite to put Dogma in the winners circle a few times.
Heres my nominations list:
1. Best Movie
2. Best Male Performance-Ben
3. Best Female Performance-Linda Fiorentino
4. Best On-Screen Duo-Ben and Matt and/or Mewes and Kevin as Jay and Silent Bob hopefully both duos will be nominated
5. Best Comedic Performance-Chris Rock, or Mewes, or Jay and the Bob together
6. Best Villain-Jason Lee as Azrael, I've said it before and I'll say it again, if he AT LEAST doesn't get the nomination, it's fucking robbery, simple as that. Ray Park-Darth Maul will probably win, but at least Lee said his own lines unlike Maul-Park, no matter how cool his flipping and spinning was. Maybe the entire team from Hell-Azrael-The Stygian Triplets and Noman the Golgothan could get a noination. They certainly were the most ORIGINAL villains in a movie this year. Some people may want Ben and Matt to get this nod, hey, thats cool with me, but I personally would love to see Lee get this nomination. Check out my older posts for more details. Anything else you guys can think of?
Oh and if you are in the St. Louis area, come and see me in "The History of Tom Jones: A Foundling"- also simply called "Tom Jones" with the Hawthorne Players at the Florissant Civic Center- April 7 and 8 and 14, 15, and 16. Look for the ad and coupon in last Sundays and this Sundays A&E section of Sundays St. Louis Post Dispatch. Also there should be news and articles on it in Sundays Post-Dispatch, the upcoming Thursdays "Get Out" section, and The Riverfront Times coming up Wednesday. Call 921-5678 and say you have a $4 off coupon (they'll believe you, and don't worry about having to prove it at the box office) to order your tickets and get directions to the civic center. Its directed by Jason Cannon and has a cast of 30 or so and its really funny, innovative, and clever, beleive me, it'll be different from what you may expect. I play Tom himself. I hope some of you can come, and thanks for reading this shameless plug for myself.
Your V.A. friend, Mr.Combat-M.S.
