Mr. Smith:

As a long time fan of all of your work since its beginning, I've continued to trace the origins of View Askew's affiliations with its corporate distributors and producers. I am currently an employee of Walt Disney World, Inc. and noticed that the distributor of Clerks was Buena Vista. It is obvious to me that View Askew has a long-term relationship with Buena Vista since the animated running of Clerks on ABC--another Disney-owned network.
I realize that you are currently outraged with ABC, and for sound reason, but I hope that there is no long-term antipathy between yourself and Buena Vista. Because of my Master's Degree in Creative Writing and my publications and writing experience with the company, I've recently been offered the chance to "shadow" (or train for promotion in my job-related field). The problem I've found is that Disney doesn't seem to know what to do with a person based strictly within a creative-writing background.
With this new opportunity, I would sincerely like to become a part of your team as I always have since I first viewed "Clerks." Please understand that I am not requesting a job, but rather inquiring whether or not I might shadow with your company and whether or not your affiliation with the Disney company would make this possible.
I hope that your anger with ABC will not be directed toward this inquiry, and I hope that your company's affiliation with Buena Vista is not threatened. Should you wish to inquire about me, please resond to this letter so that I might offer you a private way in which to contact me or my employer. I would be more than happy to offer you all of my credentials, publications, and my portfolio to review for verification of my background in short fiction, novel-length fiction, literature, university instruction of creative writing and composition, and more. I apologize for directing this letter to you rather than your company, but I was not aware of any other way to approach my dream.
Your time is greatly appreciated--Thomas W. Hansen
