: So no one else disappointed at the end of that movie
: when the doors open, and we'reall in anticipation, then out
: comes Allanis Morissette in a tutu as a mute God?
She wasn't mute...it was explained that no human could hear the true voice of god and survive...and she wasn't wearing the 'tutu' when we first saw her.
: The ending just set the tone for the whole movie.
Not entirely certain how the end of anything can set the tone of itself...if that were possible, the end setting the tone thing, then yes, I'd agree...it did...because god wasn't portrayed in a way most would have expected...the movie approached religion in general in a somewhat unique manner...so why would the god character be different?...you'd rather have a robed, bearded man hurling lightning bolts or something? It might help to know how you would have liked to have seen god portrayed.
:but with that Allanis doing a headstand in a tutu..I just don't know.
You forgot the boxers and flip-flops...and the nose honking. God was portrayed in a more accessible way...as an entity who takes joy in the little pleasures of mortal life...I loved that...god wasn't some stodgy old man...god took time to have fun...god was a lot more balanced that god is usually portrayed.
:but the movie idea was an opportunity to really say something
:it ended up saying so much of nothing.
The film spoke volumes to a lot of people, religious and otherwise...sorry that you weren't one of them.
