In need of acting advice

So maybe this is a stupid post and I'm just wasting everyone's time, but I thought that since there are some people into acting and some people who are actors on this board that maybe this would be a good place to ask my question.

See I'm in limbo between high school and college. I want more than anything in the world to be an actress and have been taking lessons since I was 6. I got into a a fight with my parents about whether I should just get an agent and see what happens with my "career" attempt or if I should go to college. Any advice on how I should handle things? I don't know how to convince my parents that acting is what I serriously want to do with my life.

Anyhow, sorry to be offtopic and annoying.
