Nothing like being a first time poster...anyway
Catching up on all things Kevin because of the new movie, I had *no* idea he was doing this Green Arrow thing till I read it on the web site. Still, I must thank him/you/whoever reads this since it got me back to my old love, comics. I hadn't been in my 'neighborhood' comic book store in years. I go there, was able to get GA 1-6 in one fell swoop. Just read it. Loved it. Favorite part? I'm a helpless Etrigan fan. I love it when the Demon shows up and he's not campy or silly.
Which brings me to the question...
When you (Kev) write these things, who determines guest appearances and minor crossovers? Do you as the writer have carte blanche to just stick in Superman or Batman at a whim? Given what we know up to No. 6, having Jason Blood show up makes perfect sense, but is it a case of Kevin Smith digging a cool demons & pentagram scene, or do you get 'notes' (agh! a screenwriter's least favorite word!) from the editor about who or what should appear?
I guess it is a matter of taste. You (Kev) obviously love a lot of cameos (well, duh! I have seen your films) and references to other story lines. While I really liked your work, I guess I'm more into monorail stories with few asterisk boxes.
Keep up the good work, just remember not all of us have been keeping up on our reading the past few years! Oh, and I also checked out the recent "X-Force" based on your recommend. ...interesting... If only television would kill off characters with as much frequency. "Voyager" certainly would have been a much better show.
