: And the question:
: View Askew's opinion of the piracy of their films and other intellectual
property...
Of course, I'm not a fan. It's a violation of sorts, and you wish anyone
who was a fan wouldn't partake in that particular type of theft.
But then, I don't own any of the films (although, I get the British rights
to 'Clerks' back in about eighteen years; domestically, Miramax owns the
film in perpetuity). So it's not really me they're stealing from.
And when you remove whatever the commercial impact may be and strip away
the moral issues... well, it IS kind of flattering that someone (or a bunch
of someones) care about your shit enough to steal it in the first place.
So - as View Askew spokes-model - I guess I can say that our feelings on
piracy of our flicks is that we wish it wouldn't go on... but we understand
it.
Interesting factoid: 'Clerks' is the most stolen tape in video stores
across the country.
